Summer on the go

Summer (mobile) Garden

Middle of summer doesn’t mean lying on the beach and sipping on fancy drinks. We would love to – don’t get us wrong – but we are not sure if it’s even possible. To be very honest, this year’s weather is bonkers. Mal is becoming a specialist in looking for places with minimal shade (two – month’s long heat wave in Malta!) and Rita considers building an Ark (the wettest season in the UK in 100 years!).

So if we can’t enjoy being lazy, we gotta settle for a plan B. Vanadian Avenue is always busy, and if we have some time on our hands we will find ourselves some new artistic challenge.

Last week we have been sorting out our documents, photos and archives.

What a positive surprise it was to find a big amount of material we could use.

This is one of the things we came across and the idea to use them immediately came to our heads.  Rita is a master of a small format and she snaps at all the colorful, fantastically shaped plants and flowers that she sees. You know she’s a painter so those things catch her eye. Mal is a photographer who tends to spend long, lonely hours using Photoshop CS 3 editing different sorts of events that she covers.
If you combine Rita’s flower shots with Mal`s skills in editing you probably will get a handful of handsome photos that can be used.  So we decided to use the photos and turn them into mobile newspapers so we could decorate our phones and carry a bit of summer with us.

Ladies and gents, lets us introduce a series of 18 images (two sets, 9 images each) collectively known as Summer (mobile) Garden. It is divided into categories: mobile phones and smart-phones. With so many brands on the market it is hard to cater for all sizes of phones but the ordinary phones images are set on average 900×600 pixels with 300 DPI, while the smart phones edits are 1600×950 pixels with 300 DPI. Mal is not very tech savvy so she followed an online tutorial for the measurements. Hope we got it right!

You can find the edits below and if you feel like, we encourage you to download them and check on your phone. Perhaps it will allow you to have a piece of summer in your pocket.

We hope you liked this little project. We have checked the edits on our phones and they look really cool. Vibrant and positive despite the (obvious) climate change.

We bid farewell with a picture of Rita on her way to cheer for the Queen. She secretly plans to become a gardener at Buckingham Palace. Do you think she would get the job? 😉
